Eric's Fishing Vest - original painting by Edna Bizon

Philip Williams - June 1974 ...great hat. I started fishing when I was a boy, spending many golden days on the beautiful chalk streams of Hampshire, England. I haven’t changed much since then. I still spend much of my time by rivers, either fishing or photographing the wildlife. My other passion is walking in the wilder parts of the British Isles.

“Everyone has a story to tell”, my Dad used to say, “they just need the right person to tell it to.”  Often when I am walking or fishing I am in the company of people who do have such stories to tell, and with their permission I am able to share them with you.

On these pages you will find a selection of articles, stories, photographs and audio projects written and produced by me.  Some are about fishing and the great outdoors, others are about people, their lives and experiences.  Often the two are linked.

In February 2010 I start my 5,000 mile charity walk around the entire coastline of mainland Britain, "Characters On The Coastline", to raise money for The Alzheimer's Society.  Come and join me as I expore our coast and meet the characters who live along it.

My work is for publication and broadcast and I would love to hear from you to discuss any commissions and forthcoming projects.  Until then I hope that you enjoy reading and listening to this compilation as much as I have enjoyed producing it.
